The
week before the show, Nina chatted to Isobel, her friend from
both her school and dance class.
"I'm
starting to get nervous now," she said.
"Me
too," replied Isobel, "I have practised lots and lots and
I know the dance inside out now, but I am worried that I will
forget the steps on the night."
"I
know what you mean," Nina said, nodding her head, "It has
never happened before but I'm sure I will fall flat on my
bottom."
They
laughed then fell silent, both hoping that their nerves would
disappear.

Luckily,
when the day of the show arrived, Nina was too excited
to care about her nerves. She arrived at the Town Hall
first thing in the morning because they had to do something
called a dress rehearsal. This meant performing the
show in costume from beginning to end without stopping.
This included the Finale they had also learnt, where
every class came on to the stage in turn to take a bow.

In
the dressing room everyone was practising, singing, running
around and chatting noisily, but Nina quietly sitting on the
floor, waiting patiently for someone to collect them and take
them to the stage for their dance. She felt relaxed, excited
and eager to perform but with the events of the next few minutes
that was all about to change.
