Her Mum parked at the side of the road and they both got out to look at the front of the car. There was steam coming from under the bonnet.

“We can’t carry on Nina. I’m going to have to call a mechanic” said Nina’s Mum. She got out her mobile phone and called them, explaining that the car had broken down and she needed to somebody to come and fix it”

“Bad news I’m afraid Nina” she said when she came off the phone. “They can come and fix it, but it will take them an hour to get here”

“But Mum! My exam! I’ll miss it if we don’t get there soon!”

Nina couldn’t believe that she had put in so much practice and hard work and now it was all going to be for nothing. Her eyes started to sting and she really felt like she was about to cry. What awful bad luck!

Just at that moment she heard a horn beeping and turned round.
