The end of the week came around quite quickly and Nina started to get nervous about her first exam. She had been practicing for weeks and weeks, but every time she thought about it she got butterflies in her tummy.

On the morning of her exam day she was up very early doing a final practice before they set off. Her Mum came downstairs and saw the worried look on Nina’s face.

“Listen Nina, just do your best. Make sure you have a big smile and if you look like you are enjoying yourself then you will start to feel it too!”

Nina practiced her big smile. It was a bit shaky, but she felt better already.

“You’re right Mum. Let’s set off, I want to get there early so I can do a proper warm up”.

Nina and her Mum got in the car. It was a sunny morning so it was nice weather to do the half an hours drive to the examination centre in the next town. Nina put her Angelina Ballerina ballet music CD on and soon she was feeling very relaxed about doing her first proper examination.

All of a sudden the car started to make a funny noise.

“What’s that sound?” asked Nina

“Oh dear!” said her Mum “I think we need to stop at the side of the road”
