| “Ah,
back with us now are you Nina? In that case you can come up
here to the map and tell the rest of the class which way is
north and which way is south”
Nina
squirmed in her seat. She hadn’t been listening to any
of the lesson so far. Mrs Paget saw the look on her face.
“Nina, what is it that is so important that you have
to spend all your time with your head in the clouds? You are
a clever girl, but you spend far too much time daydreaming!
Your school work is very important and if you don’t
concentrate now you will really regret it when you get older.
Please try to pay attention!”

“Sorry
Mrs Paget” said Nina. For the rest of lesson she
tried her hardest and by the end she had learned lots
about north, south, east and west and could name a lot
of the countries on the big map at the front of the
classroom. |
Later
on at breaktime Nina and her friend Isobel who also went to
ballet lessons were outside in the playground practicing their
steps. “It’s so unfair” said Nina. “I
know that I am going to be a professional ballerina. I’m
even taking my first exam at the end of this week. Why do
I need to know about silly stuff like north and south? I wish
I could just learn dancing all day and every day!”
