On
Wednesday 28th February 2001 we were driving to the
Thameside Theatre in Grays. Me and my partner Lauren
Gray were lucky enough to get into the finals, we were
nervous and excited because it was the first choreographic
we had ever done so we were really excited. When we
arrived all our other friends who have never done it
before were also quite nervous. In our dressing room
there was a television so we could watch what was going
o on the stage. We kept talking so time went very quickly
and as time crept forward our tums danced round in circles.
All the other duets and us lined up ready to go up to
the wings.
It
was us next, we were waiting in the wings and trying
to be calm because we were acting mad! We heard our
names being called out, it was our turn. We did our
good luck sign and the music started. We ran on stage
and did our dance, it felt like it took 5 seconds because
we kept practising. When we finished everybody clapped
and I heard my mum and Lauren's mum screaming. We felt
proud but our mums made us embarrassed. When we went
back all our friends said 'well done'! We had a snack
and we were allowed to watch the seniors. COOL!
Finally
it was trophy time. We were more nervous than our first
time doing the choreographic on Sunday. We all sat in
lines on the stage, the adjudicator came on the stage.
We knew we had to stay calm and our tummies would not
stop dancing. The 1st medal was announced then the 2nd,
3rd, 4th, 5th and I heard him say for Modern Duets the
runners-up are number 4 Brooke Tapsell and Lauren Gray,
'Me & My Shadow'. We felt so surprised, we stood up,
did a bow and nearly jumped on the audience because
we had just made our mums' lives. 5 minutes later an
award called the 'Denise Enness Award of Originality'
was announced. Guess who won it? Yep... we heard the
adjudicator say 'Me & My Shadow', Brooke Tapsell and
Lauren Gray. We jumped up and collected our award. We
had just had our dream come true, our first time our
first award. We are so glad to have had a 'Choreographics
Dream'. Hooray!!
